“We will have to fix it”: the developers of Devil May Cry 5 commented on the speedrun on the game

The December run of the streamer DECosmic was chosen as an illustrative material. At the time of recording, the 83-minute passage was a record, but since then the enthusiast (the first and only in the world) managed to get out of 80 minutes.

With its swiftness, DECosmic began to surprise developers from the very first seconds, but the real revelation descended on Capcom employees in the third mission, when the streamer squeezed through the level geometry to save time.

According to Walker, who acted as a translator for his Japanese colleagues, the developers were not aware of this vulnerability: "Now that we know about the presence [of the bug], we will have to fix it."

It seems that in the future Devil May Cry 5 may indeed be waiting for patches with the eradication of such gaps. Walker continued: "Our guys are very proud of how they make games so that they do not break."

Practice has proven that Devil May Cry 5 is suitable for speedruns despite its design, however, when creating the next project, Itsuno promised to keep fans of speed passing in mind to make the game "fun" for them too.

Devil May Cry 5 went on sale March 8, 2019 for PC (Steam), PS4 and Xbox One. The last update of the game dates back to February, when from the PC version Denuvo anti-piracy system seized.
