Naughty Dog: Many theories based on The Last of Us Part II spoilers turned out to be wrong

At the end of April on the Web leaked materials on The Last of Us Part II containing many spoilers. And recently, Naughty Dog vice president and director of The Last of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann, in a fresh interview with Eurogamer, said that the published spoilers made many users build erroneous theories.

How does the portal Gamerant Citing a source, the executive stated, "There were a lot of reviews [about spoilers] and we read them. You know right? They contained many misconceptions. We did not want to refute them, as they could ruin the experience of the game. To say what it is not is the same as revealing the truth about it. All theories are devoted to predicting the ending of [The Last of Us Part II], but the ending is not yet known. You don't know how all the elements [of the game] will fit together."

According to Neil Druckmann's post, the spoilers caused users to form an erroneous opinion about the ending and the story as a whole. And Naughty Dog did not refute them, so as not to accidentally reveal unnecessary details of the narrative of The Last of Us Part II.

Note that in the same interview, the head of development discussed the the orientation of the main character Ellie and the plot.
