Tigran Khudaverdyan has been appointed to the newly created position of managing director of the Yandex group of companies, as stated in the official statement of the Russian IT giant.
Mr. Khudaverdyan joined Yandex back in April 2006. During his time at the company, he successfully managed several services, including Yandex.Browser and Yandex.Navigator. In 2015, he took over as CEO of Yandex.Taxi, and after the merger of this division with Uber in 2018, he headed the new company.
After the appointment of Tigran Khudaverdyan (pictured) to a new position, the united Yandex.Taxi company will be headed by Daniil Shuleiko. He has been with Yandex since 2015 and has served as COO since the business combination.
Arkady Volozh will continue to manage the group of companies as CEO. βTigran has been working at Yandex for a very long time, he knows the business inside and out and is respected in the company. With Tigran taking over the current leadership as Managing Director, I will be able to focus on broader strategic objectives,β Mr. Volozh said.
It is also noted that Elena Bunina will remain CEO of Yandex in Russia and HR Director. Greg Abovsky will continue to serve as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer and will continue to be responsible for a number of current business lines and new pilot businesses. Mikhail Parakhin, director of technology at Yandex and head of a search portal, is returning to the US with his family after five years at the company. After his departure, he will continue to help the company at the board level.
