British AI accelerator startup Graphcore Ltd. is rumored to be considering selling the business. Silicon Angle reports that this decision is due to the difficulties of competition in the market, primarily with NVIDIA. Over the weekend, media reports suggested that the company was discussing a potential deal with major technology companies in an attempt to raise funds to cover large losses. The expected valuation of the company is $500 million. Moreover, the deal will also be studied by British intelligence services due to the importance for national security of any issues related to AI technologies. In December 2020, Graphcore attracted $222 million in investments; the companyβs capitalization at that time was $2,77 billion.
