We are talking about using MediaTek solutions in relatively inexpensive devices that support fifth generation networks. It is assumed that such devices will be included in the Galaxy A Series family and some other series of Samsung smartphones.

The contract with MediaTek will allow the South Korean giant to reduce the cost of 5G smartphones and thereby strengthen its position in a segment that is expected to develop rapidly in the coming years.

At the end of summer сообщалосьthat the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei intends to use MediaTek chips in its “inexpensive” 5G smartphones.

On estimated IDC, Samsung and Huawei, which are in first and second place respectively in the ranking of leading smartphone suppliers, together control more than 40% of this market. Thus, through contracts with these suppliers, MediaTek will be able to count on large volumes of supplies of 5G processors.

Moreover, other well-known companies have already announced their intention to use MediaTek 5G chips: these include OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi.
