An unknown Microsoft device on the Snapdragon 8cx Plus ARM processor was noted in Geekbench

Apple recently announced its desire to move to its own ARM processors in new Macs. It looks like she's not the only one. Microsoft is also looking at a way to move at least some of its products to ARM chips, but at the expense of third-party processor manufacturers.

The network has information about the model of the Surface Pro tablet computer, built on the basis of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, but at the same time running the Windows 10 operating system.

The information was shared by the Windows Latest resource, which found a device with the code name “OEMSR OEMSR Product Name DV” in the Geekbench 5 synthetic test database. The name itself does not mean anything, but according to the resource, we are talking about one of the future modifications of the Surface Pro X tablet computer. The source suggests that the device is based on a processor with model number SC8180XP. Earlier leaks reported that this name hides the yet unannounced Snapdragon 8cx Plus chip, designed for portable platforms running the Windows 10 operating system.

Back in 2018, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8cx processor with four high-performance Kryo 495 Gold cores up to 2,84 GHz and four Kryo 495 Silver cores up to 1,8 GHz. The fact that the new leak is talking about the updated model of the Snapdragon 8cx Plus chip is indicated by at least a higher clock frequency, the value of which is at the level of 3,15 GHz.

Unfortunately, the information contained in the Geekbench 5 database does not provide more details about the new device from Microsoft, but does report that the system uses 16GB of RAM. In addition, it is indicated that in a single-threaded test the device scored 789 points, in a multi-threaded test - 3092. By the way, similar performance indicators demonstrates Apple Developer Transition Kit based on the Apple A12Z ARM chip.
