Based on the study, NetMarketShare published data on the global distribution of desktop operating systems. The report says that the market share of Windows 10 in April 2019 continued to grow gradually and increased to 44,10%, while in March this figure was 43,62%.

Despite the fact that the share of Windows 10 is gradually growing, the main competitor of the operating system continues to be Windows 7, which lost very little during the reporting period. If in March the share of Windows 7 was 36,52%, then in April it dropped to 36,43%. The dynamics of changes in the level of distribution of operating systems shows that despite all the efforts of Microsoft, users are in no hurry to switch to Windows 10.

This state of affairs cannot suit Microsoft, so the company is trying to motivate users to switch to Windows 10 as soon as possible. Over the past few years, the developer has made various attempts to push users to upgrade Windows 7 to a later version. For example, not so long ago, users received notice that support for the operating system is coming to an end and it is worth thinking about moving to a more modern platform.

The NetMarketShare study also looked at other operating systems, whose share remained virtually unchanged during the year. The third place in terms of prevalence is occupied by Windows 8.1, whose share was 4,22%. Following it with a share of 2% is Mac OS X 10.13.
