NUC nettops based on Tiger Lake-U processors spotted in Intel roadmaps

Twitter user @momomo_us Images of two roadmaps for the NUC and NUC Element compact system families from Intel have been discovered, announcing plans to announce new models based on Tiger Lake-U and Elk Bay processors until 2021.

As one of the images indicates, sales of a series of compact computers NUC 9 Extreme (generations of Ghost Canyon) will continue until the end of 2021. It is expected to exist alongside the NUC 11 Extreme (Phantom Canyon) family, which in turn will replace the NUC 8 Extreme (Hades Canyon) before the end of this year.

Announcement nettop NUC 11 Extreme (Phantom Canyon) based on 10nm+ Tiger Lake-U series processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060 graphics cards, which was expected in the second half of this year, seems to be delayed until the last months of 2020. Thus, their appearance on sale should be expected either at the end of this or at the beginning of next year.

The "road map" does not mention the previously flickering family NUC 11 Performance (Panther Canyon), the announcement of which was also expected in the second half of 2020.

There are not so many novelties in the second image. The nettop series NUC 9 Pro (Quartz Canyon) and NUC 8 Pro (Provo Canyon) are mentioned here, which Intel has already put on sale. Their support, according to the image, will continue until 2021. The same is expected for the NUC 8 Rugged (Chaco Canyon) and NUC 8 Essential (June Canyon) models.

As for the NUC Element family, the NUC 11 Compute Element (Elk Bay) systems appear to be a direct replacement for the current Intel NUC 8 Compute Element (Chandler Bay) series. Their announcement, apparently, will take place towards the end of 2020. Unfortunately, the roadmap does not indicate which Intel processors will be used in the new series of compact computers.

Codename system Chandler Bay built on the eighth generation of 15-W Core chips (Whiskey Lake), ready to offer up to four cores and eight threads. With the arrival of the new and potentially higher performance Elk Bay, the NUC Element series may gain more appeal. Most likely, new items will also receive Tiger Lake chips.
