MegaFon has published quarterly financial results: despite the pandemic, which provoked a sharp decline in roaming and retail sales revenue, the operator was able to demonstrate an increase in service revenue, OIBDA and net profit.
In the period from January to March inclusive, MegaFon received 79,6 billion rubles of income. This is 0,7% less compared to the result for the first quarter of 2019. At the same time, service revenue increased by 0,9% and amounted to 73,4 billion rubles. Revenue from mobile services increased by 0,8%, amounting to 66,9 billion rubles. Revenue in the fixed-line segment grew by 1,6% to RUB 6,5 billion.
Net profit jumped more than twice - by 136,5%, reaching 5,2 billion rubles. OIBDA (the company's operating income before depreciation of fixed assets and amortization of intangible assets) increased by 2,2% to RUB 36,0 billion.
At the same time, the coronavirus led to a 16,3% decline in sales of equipment and accessories. The average number of visitors to MegaFon's mobile stores decreased by 23% in March.
The base of MegaFon subscribers in Russia in the first quarter remained almost at the level of last year - 75,1 million. Against the backdrop of growing demand for digital services, the number of data transmission users increased by 3,0% - up to 34,8 million people, which is 46,3. XNUMX% of the total base.
During the first three months of this year, the company put into operation about 3,5 thousand new base stations in the LTE and LTE Advanced standards.
