Newzoo has published forecasts regarding the development of the esports sector in 2020. Analysts industry growth in audience and earnings: according to the forecast, the revenue of the entire industry will exceed $1 billion.
In the coming year, the industry will earn $1,1 billion excluding advertising revenue on broadcast platforms. This figure is 15,7% more than a year earlier. The main source of income will come from sponsorship - $ 636,9 million. A large share will fall on China - about 35%.
The audience is also expected to grow by 11,3%. Newzoo estimates that there will be around 2020 million esports viewers in 495, with 223 million esports fans and 272 million casual viewers.
A key reason for the growth will be increased awareness among viewers in Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. According to analysts, the explosive development of mobile communications and IT infrastructure in these regions will lead to this. By 2023, the total audience will reach 646 million people.
