Nightdive Studios Announces System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition

Nightdiving Studios announced on its Twitter channel, an improved edition of the already classic sci-fi role-playing horror System Shock 2. What exactly is meant by the name System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is not reported, but the launch is promised “soon”. Recall: the original was released on PC in August 1999 and is currently sold on Steam for ₽249.

The said studio specializes in improved releases of old games like Turok, Forsaken, or the original System Shock (team also works over a complete remake of the first game in the series), so we can hope for a good result. In System Shock 2, players had to deal with an outbreak on a starship in 2114. Ken Levine, who later became famous for the Bioshock series, was the game's lead designer.

Given the work the studio has done with System Shock: Enhanced Edition, hopefully the cult classic sequel will get a similar in-depth treatment. Like the original, the game is purportedly a PC-only release, though nothing has been revealed about that yet.

Recall: in development is System Shock 3. This means that fans can currently look forward to three projects in the System Shock universe at once. Good news for a series that hasn't had a new installment since 1999.
