Speaking to investors, Furukawa said Mario Kart Tour was "getting off to a very good start, even compared to our previous mobile apps." He added that over 300 million consumers play Super Mario Run.

Furukawa did not specify whether these "remarkable results" would be revenue or downloads. However, Nintendo has officially stated its disappointment in the amounts that brought Super Mario Run.

According to Nintendo's president, Mario Kart Tour's earnings are satisfactory so far thanks to a "combination" of random items and a Gold Pass subscription. He also expressed confidence that the multiplayer mode "will make the game an attractive application that consumers will enjoy in the long run."

Super Mario Run came out almost three years ago, and since then, Nintendo has released four mobile games with varying degrees of success. According to Sensor Tower, Mario Kart Tour eclipsed any of Nintendo's previous mobile releases in terms of first-month downloads (outscoring Super Mario Run by a factor of five).
