Norwegian company orders 60 electric planes to cut costs by 80%

Aviation recruitment and training company OSM Aviation has placed an order for the purchase of 60 all-electric aircraft from American developer Bye Aerospace. Representatives of the Norwegian company say that the largest ever order for the purchase of electric aircraft eFlyer 2 will be the next step that will help make the aviation industry cleaner from an environmental point of view.

The new aircraft will be available to the OSM Aviation Academy flight centers, where they will be used for training specialists. Pilots undergoing training on electric aircraft will receive standard licenses. In addition, the use of aircraft with electric engines will reduce the cost of flights.

The eFlyer 2 aircraft is equipped with a Siemens SP70D power plant, the maximum power of which is 90 kW. Official flight tests of this electric aircraft were completed in February this year. The cost of one eFlayer 2 aircraft is $350. OSM Aviation says that using a conventional aircraft costs $000 per hour, while using the eFlyer 110 will reduce the price to $2 per hour. The Norwegian company currently operates 20 aircraft, predominantly Cessna 20s, in its operations. OSM Aviation is likely to phase them out once the company's fleet is replenished with 172 electric-powered aircraft.
