Notepad++ blocked in China

Developers Notepad + +, a free (GPLv3) code editor for the Windows platform, сообщили on the introduction of blocking the project in China. Despite only supporting the Windows platform, the Notepad++ editor enjoys very popular among Ubuntu users and ranks 5th among the most popular snap packages for developers (runs through Wine).

It is assumed that the reason for blocking Notepad++ was the participation of the project in actions against discrimination against Uyghurs and in support of protesters in Hong Kong. Specifically, the latest release 7.8.9 was tagged as an editorial in support of the freedom and autonomy of Hong Kong, and issues with 7.8.1 by 7.8.3 were delivered with a call against the oppression of the Uighurs.
