Huawei's everyday life is similar to that of Baron Munchausen from Gorin's play: wake up, breakfast, revolution in mobile photography. First there was the P9, which launched a wave of dual-camera smartphones, then a respite with the P10 - and a new breakthrough with the P20 Pro, which immediately offered a three-camera scheme, and unprecedented shooting quality in the dark, and a triple optical zoom. In the Mate 20 Pro, the company sacrificed shooting in the dark for the sake of wide-angle shooting, and in the P30 Pro, it didn’t sacrifice anything, offering a new Super Spectrum system instead of a monochrome sensor and flavoring it with a fivex optical zoom. There are certain issues with the implementation, we will analyze them in the section on the camera, but in general, the new smartphone in terms of photos and videos again looks not just powerful, but one step ahead of everyone.
Otherwise, the Huawei P30 Pro is a highly anticipated 2019 flagship. Notched bangs, a six-and-a-half-inch curved OLED display, a gradient-colored glass body (another trend set by Huawei), its own Kirin 980 platform, IP68 waterproofing, and a missing mini-jack. Everything is on the level, but it is obvious that the emphasis is on the word “camera”.
Together with the Pro version, which costs 70 thousand rubles at the start of sales, the Huawei P30 came out - and it is not so far behind the “pro” in terms of performance, as it was in the case of the P20. It also has a SuperSensing camera, only in the company with a triple zoom, also an OLED display, only 6,1-inch and not curved, there is no moisture protection, but there is a mini-jack; less RAM, but the same Kirin 980. A more than combat-ready gadget already priced at 50 thousand rubles - and there are suspicions that it will become a bestseller, but today we will talk about his older brother.

Design, ergonomics and software
In my first impressions of the P30 and P30 Pro, I already noted that the smartphones are very similar in appearance to the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Only we are not talking about any borrowings, rather, about the same direction of thought of designers. The roundings at the corners have become more modest, the curved front and back panels dictated the shape and narrowing in the area of the edges, add chrome ribs and ends to this - and we begin to look for differences. This is also easy - the front camera is hidden here in a miniature cutout, and not in the corner of the screen, the rear camera unit is oriented vertically, not horizontally, and the hardware keys are located differently. I can’t say for sure who turned out prettier and better, but Huawei this year can no longer be blamed for the lack of taste, which could well be done in the case of the P20 Pro and its giant notch.
The smartphone is covered with tempered glass front and back, and the manufacturer does not specify the brand of glass - whether it is the fifth, the sixth, or the glass is completely purchased from some other manufacturer. The glass back, as expected, quickly smudges and slides very willingly - it is better to pack the smartphone immediately after purchase in a case, at least complete, since it is transparent here and does not hide the color of the device.
And here Huawei P30 Pro has something to brag about. In Russia, it is presented in two colors, light blue and the color "northern lights". It was the light blue P30 Pro that we got for the test - and in my opinion, it looks very impressive with its modulations from lavender to blue. "Northern Lights" is a dark, blue-green variant, probably a little more "masculine", although it's useless to define gender here. In nature, there are also white, black and bronze-red P30 / P30 Pro, but they are not officially delivered to Russia. A little strange - with our love for everything black and discreet, but bold and fresh.
Huawei P30 Pro is a large gadget, it almost does not differ in size from the Mate 20 Pro. The days of dividing into a “big business smartphone” and a “simpler flagship” have already passed, Huawei now just has a spring and autumn flagship. It is impossible to use a smartphone with one hand without activating a special mode with a reduced desktop, but this is already more than a familiar situation. In general, no new skills are needed to work with the P30 Pro - this is a regular modern phone that just needs to fit in your pocket and offer more information on its screen.
The frames around the 6,47-inch display are almost absent, and the cutout is almost symbolic - it houses a lone front camera. The sensors that help with face recognition did not fit in the Huawei P30 Pro, so all hope for user identification is on the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the screen.
Another gradually spreading fashion for a special button to launch the Google Assistant did not reach the P30 Pro - it has two familiar hardware keys, one of which is responsible for volume control, and the other for turning it on.
Mini-jack, as I noted above, is not here, just as there are no stereo speakers - the earpiece is generally replaced by a piezoelectric element hidden under the display. The sound during a conversation is emitted, in fact, by the screen itself. This limits the multimedia capabilities of the P30 Pro, but gives some futuristic chic.
The fingerprint scanner is also hidden under the display - today ultrasonic scanners have learned to do almost everything. The first pancake on the autumn Mate 20 Pro turned out to be lumpy, the scanner worked in it, to put it mildly, mediocre - very slowly and with a large percentage of defects. Huawei has worked on the bugs - in the P30 Pro the situation has improved markedly. It takes less than a second to trigger the sensor, the quality of its work is close to what we are used to getting from capacitive sensors. Yes, it got closer, not caught up, but at least seriously, this scanner is no longer annoying. You can add quite a working face recognition to it, but no one helps the front camera in it, you can also deceive it with the help of a photo.
