Despite its advanced age, AWK is still actively used by administrators to perform routine work related to parsing various types of text files and generating simple resulting statistics.
Key changes:
- The API version number has been raised to 3 (reflecting changes in the 5.x branch);
- Memory leaks fixed;
- The components of the assembly infrastructure Bison 3.5.4, Texinfo 6.7, Gettext 0.20.1, Automake 1.16.2 have been updated.
- Indexing in the manual has been reworked, formatting which now requires Texinfo 6.7;
- MSYS2 support has been added to the configure script;
- Accumulated bugs fixed.
