The demonstration of solutions was held as part of the Samsung Foundry Forum (SFF) 2019 event in Munich (Germany). The new chips are designed for the automotive industry in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Samsung, in particular, showed innovative platforms that combine key technical elements for deploying 5G, Internet of Things (IoT) and high performance computing (HPC) solutions. These platforms will be in demand in the smart car segment.

Samsung currently manufactures several semiconductor products for the automotive industry, such as driver assistance systems and products for infotainment systems.

Samsung's automotive products are now using the 28nm FD-SOI process and 14nm technology. In the near future, Samsung plans to introduce solutions based on technical processes up to 8 nanometers.

Samsung also pays special attention to the functional safety and reliability of components, which is critical in the automotive industry, as any failure can lead to an accident, injury or other serious consequences.
