Data on the main technical characteristics and prices of the tenth generation Intel Core desktop processors, also known as Comet Lake, has appeared on the Web. Recall that these chips will be made according to an improved (once again) 14-nm process technology and will become another embodiment of the Skylake microarchitecture, released back in 2015.
So, the flagship processor Intel Core i9-10900KF will have ten cores and twenty threads. That is, Intel will again increase the number of cores in the desktop segment by two. The base clock frequency of the future flagship will be 3,4 GHz, the maximum frequency in Turbo mode for a single core will reach 5,2 GHz, and for all cores - 4,6 GHz. It is also reported that the processor will receive 20 MB of cache in the third level, and its TDP level will be 105 watts.
The recommended cost of the Core i9-10900KF processor is $499. It turns out that Intel will oppose it to the new 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X. Note that this will not be the only 10-core processor in the Comet Lake family. Intel is also preparing the Core i9-10900F and Core i9-10800F models, which will have slightly more modest clock speeds and a locked multiplier. Yes, they will also cost less: $449 and $409, respectively.
The Core i7 series will be led by the Core i7-10700K, which will be able to offer 8 cores and 16 threads, and its clock speeds will be 3,6 / 5,1 GHz. This chip will have an unlocked multiplier, 16 MB of L95 cache and a more familiar Intel TDP level of 730 watts. Also, this processor will receive integrated UHD 389 graphics. The price of the novelty will be $7, and it will be positioned as a competitor to the eight-core Ryzen 3800 7X. Intel will also release a more affordable Core i10700-339 with a locked multiplier and slightly lower clocks for $XNUMX.
The tenth generation Core i5 processors will offer six cores and twelve threads, as well as 12 MB of L730 cache and UHD 5 graphics. Intel will also introduce Core i10600-3,7, Core i4,9-5 and Core i10600-5 models with more modest clock speeds and no overclocking capability. The cost of the junior six-core Intel processor will be only $10500, and for the older Core i5-10400K the company will ask for $179.
Finally, Intel will prepare four new Core i3s, each with four cores and eight threads, as well as 7-9 MB of L3 cache. The eldest among them will be the Core i10350-4,0K processor with an unlocked multiplier, frequencies of 4,7 / 179 GHz and a price of $3. And the most affordable will be the Core i10100-3,7 with frequencies of 4,4 / 129 GHz and a price of $XNUMX.
Also in the table above, it is noted that Comet Lake processors will be made in the new LGA 1159 package. Accordingly, they will clearly not be compatible with current motherboards with an LGA 1151 connector. Intel will also release new system logic chips that will be included in the 400th series. Most likely, the new Intel chips out of the box will support faster DDR4-3200 memory instead of the current DDR4-2666. The release of new products is expected later this year.
