TP Vision, the Philips-brand TV manufacturer, announced that all its 2026 devices will be built on the Titan OS software platform. JVC also announced the use of Titan OS in some of its TVs. This platform reportedly allows the manufacturer to participate in development and have greater control over the software's appearance and functionality. Devices running Titan OS will receive security updates for up to 10 years.

Over a year ago, TP Vision first announced the transition of its budget TVs to the Titan OS platform, and now all of the company's TVs, including models with OLED screens, will run this alternative operating system.
Titan OS is a European operating system for TVs based on LinuxIt's essentially a web platform, so users won't need to download an app to start watching. This approach frees up TV memory, potentially improving performance.

Titan OS currently supports most popular streaming services, such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney Plus, HBO Max, and Prime Video. Apple TV is scheduled to launch on the platform in spring 2026, with other planned additions including Spotify and SkyShowtime. Titan OS is also compatible with Apple TV Play 2, Google Assistant, and works with Alexa and Control 4 devices. However, the platform does not currently support Google Cast. The manufacturer has not provided any information on Gemini support.
Analysts cite the key advantages of using Titan OS as the ability for manufacturers to participate in development, have greater control over the platform's appearance and functionality, and explore "new revenue streams." The experts expressed hope that the phrase in quotation marks does not imply more advertising, tracking, and other unwanted additions.

In any case, Philips TVs were not the first to use an alternative Android TV or Google TV. Perhaps the most prominent examples are Samsung and LG, which operate on their own Tizen and WebOS platforms, respectively.
