The new Microsoft Edge still got a "reading mode" by default

Microsoft is actively working on preparing the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser for release. Canary builds are updated every day and receive numerous improvements. In one of the latest updates Canary 76.0.155.0 did appear the long awaited "reading mode".

The new Microsoft Edge still got a "reading mode" by default

Previously, this mode could be forced into the Canary and Dev channel builds of Microsoft Edge using the appropriate flags. Now it is available to all users by default. To activate this mode, you need to press a special button next to the address bar when loading a page on which this function is available. It seems that not all pages work with this mode. Perhaps the length of the text plays a role.

Microsoft is expected to add this capability to a Dev build in the coming weeks. And at the end of the year it will appear in the stable version of the browser. It should be expected on macOS, and probably also on Linux. As for the mobile versions of Edge, they have not yet been updated to the new engine.

At the same time, Google Chrome developers are also preparing a similar function for their browser. In addition, there are similar solutions in Opera, Vivaldi and other products, so this shows the popularity of the feature for users. On the other hand, the "reading mode" is inconvenient for large portals that "live" at the expense of advertising, since it cuts off most of the blocks even without the use of special programs.

Recall that earlier Microsoft ΠΎΠΏΡƒΠ±Π»ΠΈΠΊΠΎΠ²Π°Π»Π° video in which she showed the advantages of her new browser. Also earlier ΡΠΎΠΎΠ±Ρ‰Π°Π»ΠΎΡΡŒ about the release of an unofficial assembly with the status of "beta". Although at the same time on the official website of this version is not yet. The company probably just leaked.
