To date, the GLONASS orbital constellation has 26 devices, of which 24 are used for their intended purpose. One more satellite is at the stage of flight tests and in orbital reserve.

The new Glonass-M satellite is scheduled to be launched on May 13. The device will have to replace a satellite in orbit, which has already exceeded its period of guaranteed active existence.

β€œCurrently, at the technical complex of the cosmodrome, specialists from the Reshetnev company and Plesetsk are working with the spacecraft, as well as the device for separating it from the upper stage. During the preparatory operations, it is necessary to install the satellite on the separation device, dock with the upper stage, and conduct autonomous and joint checks," the ISS said in a statement.

Let us add that the Glonass-M satellites provide navigation information and accurate time signals to ground, sea, air and space consumers. Devices of this type continuously emit four navigation signals with frequency division in two frequency bands - L1 and L2.
