It will serve as Google's new technical headquarters in the country and home to its hardware projects when the company begins moving employees to the new location by the end of 2020.

Google plans to hire hundreds of additional employees in Taiwan. The company announced that it is focusing on encouraging women to apply for technology roles.

Engadget Chinese noted that Google's senior vice president of hardware, Rick Osterloh, once said that the company would like to bring all of its hardware employees into one place.

It is not yet clear whether this means that the HTC Pixel developers will leave their old office and move to the new campus.
