New 7nm AMD Ryzen 3000 processors also rely on new markings

The presentation of Matisse Zen 2 processors, which will be produced on TSMC's 7nm technology, was unique in that five new models will only go on sale on July XNUMX, and all specifications and prices are already known. Moreover, in special section of the site AMD has already published markings for the 7nm processors of the Ryzen 3000 family. In their structure, these markings are very different from those of previous generations of processors. They consist only of a long sequence of numbers, whereas letters were previously used as well. In fact, the combination "BOX" is added at the end of the marking only to indicate boxed processors.

Regular cooling systems are attached to such processors. The top three models, the Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3800X, and Ryzen 7 3700X, come with a Wraith Prism cooler with controlled RGB lighting, while the six-core Ryzen 5 3600X and Ryzen 5 3600 models rely on the Wraith Spire and Wraith Stealth, respectively.

It is interesting that in the video on the channel Tech Yes City spy shots of an experiment with testing an engineering sample of a 16-core processor of the Ryzen 3000 series have appeared, the results of which we have already wrote previously. In the Cinebench R15 test, a processor with sixteen active cores overclocked to 4,25 GHz scored 4346 points. The screenshot clearly shows the markings of the 16-core model: 100-000000033-01. There is no such sequence in the list of markings for production models, and the addition "01" may mean that an engineering sample was used. Moreover, a screenshot of CPU-Z allows you to determine whether the processor under test belongs to the early stepping A0.

For stable operation at frequencies above 4,1 GHz, a liquid cooling system had to be used. It is difficult to judge to what frequency a serial Matisse processor with sixteen cores would be overclocked, but so far it is obvious that AMD has no plans to bring such a model to the market in July.
