NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella reported that over 1480 games have been released for the Nintendo Switch in the United States. And that's 400 more than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One combined.
Total Nintendo Switch game sales in dollars correlate directly with the number of releases. To get an idea of how big this growth is for Nintendo, you can look back at the Wii, the company's hugely successful console. Even in its first three years of existence, the Switch dwarfs the Wii in terms of games.
As Piscatella points out, the current Nintendo eShop interface could be a problem to sell this volume of games. Valve is providing more and more new tools just to help Steam users find and select a huge number of releases, and Nintendo simply does not have anything like it. Of course, the Switch is nowhere near that volume of games, but the eShop tools leave a lot to be desired.
