The GeForce Now Alliance is expanding game streaming technology around the world. The next step was the launch of the GeForce Now service in Russia by the SAFMAR industrial and financial group
Through partnerships with leading Russian service providers and retail chains, GFN.ru is able to provide reportedly the best cloud gaming in Russia. Rostelecom ensures the operation of GFN.ru through its high-speed data transmission channels, which will ensure minimal delays. And M.Video will sell the subscription in its stores and on the website online.
GFN.ru works through NVIDIA RTX servers located in Russia, which allows you to achieve optimal performance and reduce latency. The server infrastructure was hosted in the recently opened Moscow Two data center by IXcellerate. By the way, members of the GeForce Now alliance themselves decide on the best business models, pricing, promotions, game libraries, and so on in their regions. Thus, players get a localized environment along with the quality and performance of GeForce Now.
By the way, not so long ago, other companies joined the GeForce Now alliance - LG U + in Korea and SoftBank in Japan. LG U+ has already begun trials of the service, including on smartphones over 5G networks, and SoftBank has opened pre-registration, a free beta version of the service will be launched in the winter. In general, the GeForce Now alliance was introduced in March - a union of companies using NVIDIA RTX servers and NVIDIA software to expand and improve game streaming around the world.
The GFN.RU service in Russia works on almost any computer with Windows and macOS, and the main requirement is a high-quality Internet connection at a speed of 25 Mbps or more. It is worth noting that the service does not provide access to a specific library of games, but simply allows you to run supported games in the cloud from your own user accounts on Steam, Battle.net, Uplay and Epic Games. The list of projects compatible with GFN.ru is not very extensive yet - you can find it at
The capabilities of GeForce Now, as well as the number of supported games, are constantly expanding, bugs are being gradually fixed by NVIDIA specialists. Recent innovations include, for example, support for Discord, Shadowplay Highlights, instant replays,
“Russia is the land of PC gaming, and one of the regions where we see a lot of user interest in GeForce Now,” said Phil Eisler, Vice President and Director of GeForce Now at NVIDIA. “Together with the SAFMAR group, we will be able to provide millions of Russian PC gamers with a comfortable environment on almost any computer thanks to GeForce accelerators.”
Said Gutseriev, a member of the Board of Directors of the SAFMAR Group, emphasized: “The launch of the GFN.ru service is a strategic step in a new market for us. According to analysts, the Russian gaming industry accounts for slightly more than 1% of the global market, the volume of which is estimated at $140 billion. One of the limiting growth factors is the mismatch between the power of users' computers and the requirements of modern games. Thanks to NVIDIA technologies, the new service of the SAFMAR group will give the multi-million Russian audience the opportunity to go beyond the nominal limitations of their PCs.”
Not so encouraging news is the prices set by the service. The cost of a GFN.ru subscription is 999 ₽ per month, 4999 ₽ for six months and 9999 ₽ per year. To assess the quality of services, a trial two-week period is provided.
