β€œI love having money, so I'm going to save some money,” Jensen Huang said at the Calcalist business conference in Tel Aviv. β€œThis is a great purchase. I'm not looking for another."

Earlier this month, NVIDIA agreed to buy Mellanox for $6,8 billion, ahead of competitor Intel Corp. The deal is expected to help the company expand its supercomputing and data center business, as well as big data and artificial intelligence solutions.

β€œEveryone wanted it,” Huang said on the occasion. When asked if Mellanox was paid too much for the purchase, he replied: "Beyond imagination", noting that "the company has created amazing technology and has a great future."

NVIDIA, once known as a supplier of chips for gaming devices, now also supplies chips that can speed up AI tasks, such as training servers to recognize images. Mellanox makes chips that connect servers together in a data center.

β€œOur strategy is to increase the focus on the data center. The future of computing is largely focused on the data center,” Huang said.
