One of the main achievements of the past quarter, according to representatives of NVIDIA, was the excess of server revenue from gaming products. It symbolizes the evolutionary transformation of the company's business model, although the third quarter should return the gaming business to the top for a while. In the server segment, the bet is on Ampere.
CFO Colette Kress in the prepared part of the report that NVIDIA has shipped more than a billion CUDA-enabled GPUs, and the number of application developers in this programming environment has reached two million. It took more than ten years for the developer base to convert the first million, and the second million was raised in less than two years.
According to the head of NVIDIA Jensen Huang (Jensen Huang), already now the Ampere family of graphics processors form about a quarter of revenue in the direction of components for data processing centers. Cloud giants, according to NVIDIA forecasts, will actively purchase computing accelerators based on the Ampere architecture in the third quarter. Her head calls a giant breakthrough and promises that the life cycle of the Ampere platform will stretch for several years. Moderate revenue dynamics in the server direction in the third quarter will be partly offset by the active expansion of products with the Ampere architecture, as the company's management expects.
