As you know, Huawei is developing its own operating system that can replace Android. The development has been going on for many years, although we only learned about it recently when the US authorities blacklisted the company, prohibiting it from cooperating with American companies. And although at the end of June Donald Trump softened its position in relation to the Chinese manufacturer, which allowed it hope permission to use Android in his future smartphones, there is almost no doubt about the release of Hongmeng. There are even assumptionthat the presentation of the OS will take place on August 9.

Meanwhile, the first reviews from testers who have already managed to use Huawei’s new software platform and understand how it differs from Android-based EMUI, which all brand phones are now equipped with, have appeared on the Internet.

First of all, they reported that they found some broken features in Hongmeng. Why a number of features were blocked is not specified, but it is possible that they simply have not yet been properly debugged, or Huawei does not want them to be seen before the official premiere. Also, the first users of Hongmeng spoke about a new loading animation and wide scope for customizing the interface, including the lock screen, which is available in several versions with different arrangement of elements.

The icons became more animated, the animations added speed and smoothness. The notification panel is now completely new, and a large search bar has appeared. A new notification mode was found in the settings, and the set of standard ringtones has changed compared to EMUI. The camera application interface was made more concise compared to that of the Huawei P30, limiting itself to a small number of controls.

As for the speed of the system, the testers have kept silent about it for now. However, earlier information appeared on the Internet that Hongmeng is about 60% faster than Android.
