Debian 11.7 update and second release candidate for the Debian 12 installer

The seventh corrective update of the Debian 11 distribution has been published, which includes the accumulated package updates and fixes bugs in the installer. The release includes 92 stability updates and 102 vulnerability updates.

Of the changes in Debian 11.7, we can note the update to the latest stable versions of the clamav, dpdk, flatpak, galera-3, intel-microcode, mariadb-10.5, nvidia-modprobe, postfix, postgresql-13, shim packages. Removed packages bind-dyndb-ldap (does not work with new releases of bind9), python-matrix-nio (has security issues and does not support up-to-date versions of matrix servers), weechat-matrix, matrix-mirage, and pantalaimon (depends on remote python- matrix-nio).

Installation builds will be prepared for download and installation from scratch, as well as live iso-hybrid with Debian 11.7. Previously installed and up-to-date systems receive the updates that are present in Debian 11.7 through the native update system. Security fixes included in new releases of Debian are made available to users as updates are released via the security.debian.org service.

At the same time, the second release candidate for the installer for the next significant release, Debian 12 ("Bookworm"), was presented. Among the changes, we can note the addition of support for the luks2 partition encryption format to digitally signed efi GRUB images, the improvement of cryptsetup on systems with a small amount of RAM, the installation of the shim-signed package in images for the i386 and arm64 architectures, the addition of support for Lenovo Miix 630 boards and devices , Lenovo Yoga C630, StarFive VisionFive, D1 SoC, A20-OLinuXino_MICRO-eMMC, Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, Colibri iMX6ULL eMMC, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus Rev 1.3.

Debian 12 is scheduled for release on June 10, 2023. A full freeze before release is scheduled for May 24. Currently, there are 258 critical bugs blocking the release (a month ago there were 267 such bugs, two months ago - 392, three months ago - 637)
