Shadow of the Tomb Raider update adds support for AMD FidelityFX

Nixxes studio responsible for version development Shadow of the Tomb Raider on PC, released a patch for the game. This update added support for AMD FidelityFX. As a reminder, this is a set of high-quality post-processing effects that automatically break down various effects into fewer shader passes to reduce load and free up GPU resources. In particular, FidelityFX combines Contrast-Adaptive Sharpening (a special sharpening filter that emphasizes details in low-contrast areas) with Luma Preserving Mapping (LPM) technology, providing increased quality of the final image.

In addition, the update added a new option - Hidden City Outfit Restriction, which allows you to wear any outfit when exploring the secret city. It is worth noting that this can lead to inconsistencies in the narrative (in the story, Lara Croft sometimes dresses in different outfits so that some factions in the game mistake her for one of their own). However, we are talking about exploring the world of the game after completing the campaign.

Finally, this patch also includes various bug fixes that the Nixxes staff didn't specify. The company also hasn't said whether the FidelityFX sharpening method will work on NVIDIA graphics chips (probably not). However, owners of NVIDIA video cards have the opportunity to use the image sharpening function through the control panel.

As always, Steam will allow you to download the Shadow of the Tomb Raider update the next time you open the client.
