Updated Firefox Preview released for Android

Developers from Mozilla released the first public build of the updated Firefox Preview browser, which previously appeared under the name Fenix. The novelty will be released in the fall, but for now you can download "pilot" version of the application.

The novelty is positioned as a kind of replacement and development of Firefox Focus. The browser is based on the same GeckoView engine, but differs in other aspects. The novelty has become almost twice as fast as previous versions of Firefox for Android. She received an updated minimalist design with a navigation bar at the bottom.

A new "Collections" feature has been added, which will allow you to save, organize and share collections of sites. Something like an advanced version of "Favorites" and bookmarks, but on a new level.

Protection against various default tracking methods is also claimed. The browser will block advertising trackers, allowing you to speed up work, save traffic and hide user data from site owners. By the way, the company promises to improve the browser and release a release build by the end of the year. But work on Firefox Focus will currently be suspended, although they promise to return to the program in the future.

At the same time, we note that the browser still has problems. The author tried to install it on ASUS ze551ml. The installation went well, however, when launched, the browser itself is on the screen for only a couple of seconds, after which it disappears, although it does not close, since it is in the list of running applications. The reason for this behavior of the program is unclear - either the lack of a normal version for the x86 processor, or "unfriendliness" in relation to Anrdoid 6.
