Data released by the International Data Corporation (IDC) suggests that the European market for smart home devices is growing rapidly.
Thus, in the second quarter of this year, 22,0 million smart home devices were sold in Europe. We are talking about products such as set-top boxes, monitoring and security systems, smart lighting devices, smart speakers, thermostats, etc. The growth in supplies compared to the second quarter of 2018 was 17,8%.
The highest growth rates were recorded in Central and Eastern Europe - 43,5% year on year. At the same time, Western Europe accounts for 86,7% of the total volume of shipments.
The largest market player is Google with a 15,8% share in the second quarter. Next comes Amazon with a score of 15,3%. Closes the top three Samsung - 13,0%.
If we consider the segment of "smart" speakers, here quarterly sales jumped by a third (33,2%), reaching 4,1 million units. Amazon, which occupied the second position in the first quarter of the year, regained its leadership. Google is in second place.
Analysts predict that by the end of 2019, the overall volume of the European smart home device market will be 107,8 million units. In 2023, this figure will reach 185,5 million units.
