Sony announced financial results for its third fiscal quarter, ending December 31, saying that global PlayStation 4 shipments reached 108,9 million units. For comparison, the PlayStation 3 sold 2015 million units as of April 87.
In just 3 months, 6,1 million of these consoles were shipped, which is noticeably less than the 8,1 million shipped in the same period of the 2018 fiscal year. However, Sony did not change its previous forecast that total PlayStation 4 sales in the 2019 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2020, will be 13,5 million.
The company shared other statistics from its PlayStation division. PlayStation Plus had 31 million subscribers as of December 38,8, up 2,5 million from the same period in the previous financial year.
In the third fiscal quarter, 81,1 million software products were sold for PlayStation 4, which is 6,1 million less than a year ago. Moreover, 49% of these sales come from fully downloadable games, up from 37% in the previous year.
