The analytical company GfK has published a forecast for the global market of household appliances and electronics: this year, costs are expected to increase in this segment.

It is reported, in particular, that expenses will increase by 2,5% compared to last year. The global market size will exceed the landmark €1 trillion mark, reaching €1,05 trillion.

The highest costs are expected in the field of telecom products. In 2019, such products accounted for 43% of the total market volume of household appliances and electronics. According to GfK forecasts, in 2020 spending in this area will amount to €454 billion, up 3% compared to 2019.

In second place will be large household appliances, whose global sales this year are projected to amount to €187 billion. Growth is at 2%.

The consumer electronics segment will earn €146 billion (approximately 14% of consumer spending).

The fastest growing sector globally will be small appliances, up 8% year-on-year. Costs here will reach €97 billion.

More than 15% of total consumer spending on appliances and electronics will come from the IT and office equipment sector.

β€œThe key factors in product selection this year remain innovation, performance and premiumity, which provide a high-quality user experience. In addition, consumers today want to invest in convenience and a healthy lifestyle. This will support the high dynamics of demand for small household appliances in both developed and emerging markets,” notes GfK.
