Gears Tactics ratings - new addition to the ranks of worthy tactical strategies

Turn-based tactics Gears Tactics will be released on PC and Xbox One only tomorrow, April 28, but leading media outlets have already tested the project and shared their opinions. On Metacritic (PC version) the game received an 81 score from critics after 52 reviews. Only eight journalists published mixed reviews, while the remaining 44 reported positive reviews.

GameSpew's Take: Gears Tactics is the best Gears of War game since the original trilogy. The genre has changed, but the action is still relentless, and it's still fun to saw your enemies in half and blow them up with grenades."

PCGamesN Review: β€œThe central combat system here is better than in XCOM. And if it came with just one more thing, Gears Tactics could have become one of the greatest [games].”

GamesRadar+ Review: β€œThere's a lot to love about Gears Tactics. The waves of action roll in quite strongly, so it’s easy to forget about the shortcomings [of the project], but they are still present and taken into account. The game is in desperate need of variety; This may be true for the main series, but the problem is especially noticeable when there is a separation between team management and combat."

In our reviews Denis Shchennikov gave Gears Tactics 7,5 out of 10, praising the boss battles, strong game mechanics and skillful adaptation of the series' features to a new genre. The author cited the lack of a metagame (there is nothing to do in between battles) and a meager set of mission types, which creates monotony, as disadvantages.
