One of the founders of Devolver Digital defended Steam, but is happy about the emergence of competition

GameSpot journalists at the last PAX Australia exhibition talked with one of the founders of Devolver Digital, Graeme Struthers. IN interview the conversation turned on Steam with the Epic Games Store, and the head gave an opinion about each digital platform. According to him, Valve has done a lot to promote their store and always pays publishers on time.

Graham Struthers stated, β€œThere had to be competitors one day. Epic Games Studio offers more generous royalties to developers, and also promotes exclusives on their platform, which is great. Publishers have a choice, but you should not compare Steam and EGS. Valve has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in its own store. Epic hasn't done that yet, but that doesn't mean it's not going to. Developers have more options for development. Either way, competition is good.”

Separately, Graham Struthers noted that Steam always paid out the proceeds from sales on time. Although now the 30% commission looks like an outdated solution, at the time of the site's foundation it was a more favorable condition than the competition. The leader also said that the discussion of digital platforms has gone in the wrong direction and needs to start over.
