ASUS has announced a new single board computer: a product called Tinker Edge R is designed specifically for various projects in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).
The novelty is based on the Rockchip RK3399Pro processor with an integrated NPU module designed to accelerate the execution of AI-related operations. The chip contains two Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, as well as a Mali-T860 graphics accelerator.
The board has 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 2 GB of dedicated memory, which is used by the NPU module. In addition, the equipment includes a flash drive eMMC with a capacity of 16 GB.
The Gigabit Ethernet controller is responsible for the wired connection to the computer network. There are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters. A 4G/LTE modem can be connected to the mini PCI Express slot.
Among other things, HDMI, USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports, a network cable jack and an SD 3.0 interface are mentioned. Debian Linux and Android platforms are supported.
The price and timing of the start of sales of ASUS Tinker Edge R is not yet known.
