JSC "STC IT ROSA" officially presented the mobile operating system ROSA Mobile (ROSA Mobile) and the Russian smartphone R-FON. The user interface of ROSA Mobile is built on the basis of the open platform KDE Plasma Mobile, developed by the KDE project. The system is included in the register of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation (No. 16453) and, despite the use of developments from the international community, is positioned as a Russian development.
The platform includes a mobile edition of the Plasma 5 desktop, KDE Frameworks 5 libraries, the ModemManager phone stack and the Telepathy communication framework. Mobile applications are used from the Plasma Mobile Gear set and are based on the Qt library, a set of Mauikit components and the Kirigami framework, which allows you to create universal interfaces suitable for smartphones, tablets and PCs.
Plasma Mobile uses the kwin_wayland composite server to output graphics, and PulseAudio is used to process audio. Plasma Mobile includes applications such as KDE Connect for pairing your phone with your desktop, Okular document viewer, VVave music player, Koko and Pix image viewers, buho note-taking system, calindori calendar planner, Index file manager, Discover application manager, a program for sending SMS Spacebar, an address book plasma-phonebook, an interface for making telephone calls plasma-dialer, a browser plasma-angelfish and a messenger Spectral.
The ROSA Mobile assembly is distinguished by a significant change in the Plasma Mobile interface, its own set of icons and the delivery of additional applications, such as Telegram. It is possible to run Android applications through an emulator. The system environment was collected from our own ROSA 2021.1 repository. The assemblies do not use closed drivers and proprietary components from Android firmware; it is claimed that R-FON developed the drivers for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other components of the smartphone independently.
The R-FON smartphone was developed by Rutek and is assembled at its own production facility in Saransk (Technopark-Mordovia). The device is equipped with a 6.7-inch screen (AMOLED, FullHD+ 1080×2412, Gorilla Glass 5) and is equipped with a Chinese SoC MediaTek helio G99 (2 Cortex-A76 cores at 2200 MHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores at 2000 MHz), released since May 2022. The amount of RAM is 8 GB, internal memory is 128 GB. There is a slot for MicroSD, Wi-Fi 2.4/5 GHz, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, a 16 MP front camera and a 50 MP rear camera (f/1.8). Battery – 5000 mAh. The device weight is 189 g, thickness is 7.96 mm. Deliveries of the device will begin in 2024.
