Official: current MSI motherboards will still be able to work with Ryzen 3000

MSI was quick to release an official statement regarding whether AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors will be supported by its current AMD 300 and 400 series motherboards. The need for such a statement arose after an MSI technical support replied to the clientthat the Taiwanese company's motherboards based on AMD 300-series chipsets will not be able to work with Ryzen 3000-series processors, and recommended purchasing a model based on AMD B450 or X470.

Now, MSI has claimed that its support team made a mistake and "misinformed the MSI customer" about the ability to run next-generation AMD processors on the MSI X370 XPower Gaming Titanium motherboard. Also, the Taiwanese manufacturer considered it necessary to clarify the current situation:

β€œCurrently, we continue extensive testing of existing 4-series and 300-series AM400 motherboards to test potential compatibility with next generation AMD Ryzen processors. More specifically, we strive to ensure compatibility for as many MSI products as possible. Along with the release of next-generation AMD processors, we will publish a list of compatible MSI motherboards with socket AM4.”

That is, not all motherboards will obviously be compatible, but many of them can still be used with future AMD Ryzen 3000 processors. MSI also provides a list of upcoming BIOS updates for a number of its motherboards based on AMD 300- and 400-series chipsets, which will bring them support for next-generation hybrid processors (APUs) (Picasso). The new BIOSes will be based on AMD Combo PI 1.0.0.0. The following boards will receive BIOS updates:
