Online cinemas will be required to transmit data on the number of viewers

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, according to the newspaper Vedomosti, has prepared amendments to the law on supporting cinematography.

Online cinemas will be required to transmit data on the number of viewers

We are talking about obliging online cinemas and Internet services that show films to transfer data on the number of viewers to the unified state system for recording cinema tickets (UAIS).

Currently, only ordinary cinemas transmit information to the UAIS. Producers have been trying for a long time to negotiate with web services to receive statistics on impressions and views from them, but they failed to find a common language.

As reported now, the amendments oblige Internet cinemas and video services to send information about movie screenings, date, time and cost of viewing to the UAIS. It is assumed that this information will help producers in the development of the Russian film business.

If the amendments are adopted, participants in the online film market will be required to connect to the UAIS within six months. Failure to provide data on impressions and viewers will result in a fine of at least 100 thousand rubles.
