ESET conducted a new study on ensuring the security of mobile devices: this time, experts found out how Russians protect their gadgets during vacations and tourist trips.
It turned out that almost all of our compatriots - 99% - take some kind of electronic device when traveling. Tourists use gadgets to work with guidebooks and maps (24% of respondents), check email and read messages in instant messengers (20%), watch news (19%), online banking (14%), play games (11%) and publish photos on social networks (10%).
At the same time, the survey showed that every fifth Russian tourist (18%) ignores the protection of gadgets during their vacation. Such carelessness can lead to dire consequences. Thus, while traveling, 8% of respondents had funds debited from their bank account without their knowledge, 7% lost their gadgets (or became victims of theft), and another 6% encountered malware.
On the other hand, 30% of Russian tourists install anti-virus software, 19% use only trusted Wi-Fi networks, 17% hide gadgets in public places, 11% enable the device location function, and 6% regularly change passwords.
