OpenRGB lets you control motherboard backlighting

The fashionable theme of motherboard lighting has not bypassed Linux either. The first public build of the OpenRGB tool has been released, which eliminates proprietary applications and works with a whole set of boards, not just one specific one. The program operates under Linux and Windows.

Support for ASUS, Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI boards, ASUS Corsair and HyperX memory modules, ASUS Aura and Gigabyte Aorus video cards, ThermalTake, Corsair, NZXT Hue+ controllers, Razer devices, as well as solutions from smaller manufacturers has been announced.

Depending on device type and manufacturer, Linux kernel patches, OpenRazer driver, and so on may be used. In most cases, i2c-dev is used or control is via USB.

Of the user interfaces, there is a console utility and a graphical interface in Qt, and a library of functions with a universal API is used for control. All standard modes are supported: from color music to backlight synchronization.
