OpenVSP 3.19.1 - free CAD for the design and analysis of the geometry of aircraft

OpenVSP — free parametric CAD system for aircraft geometry design and analysis (CFD, FEM). The program is developed by employees NASA Langley Research Center и is included to the software list NASA Software Catalog.

September 17-19, 2019 took place «OpenVSP Workshop 2019» where the developments and plans for the development of the 3.19.x branch were presented. Released November 9th OpenVSP 3.19.0, and just over a week later a corrective release of 3.19.1 was released.

Development branch OpenVSP 3.19.x includes three of the most anticipated features: VSPAERO 6.0.0, Generic XSec Editor and auto-generated API documentation using Doxygen. In addition, a large-scale work was carried out to improve and correct errors. Much of this work was carried out by the team ESAerosponsored by US Air Force Research Laboratory.

List of changes (in releases 3.19.0 and 3.19.1)

Most of the changes were aimed at improving cross-platform, calculation accuracy and stability.

We ask all users who use VSPAERO to restart their models in VSPAERO 6.0.0 and report any issues found. And although changes in VSPAERO GUI are minimal, users can use CLI commands to access all advanced features. The most significant possibility is the installation of multiple non-stationary rotating bodies. Over time, an interface will also be added to the GUI to use all the features of the analyzer.

In addition to all the changes in the program, now users Ubuntu 18.04 can download DEB package (thanks Cibin Joseph for the work done on packaging), as well as for users Windows a 64-bit EXE is also supplied.
