Oppo unveils Find X2 - SD865, 120Hz QHD+ screen, 65W charging and more

As expected, Oppo has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Find X2, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 octa-core SoC @ 865GHz. The device was originally supposed to be presented during MWC 2020, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak, so the announcement took place as part of the online broadcast today. The device can immediately boast of a number of outstanding features, but let's start in order.

First of all, we should mention the 6,7-inch QHD + AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168 Γ— 1440 (513 ppi), 10-bit output support, HDR10 + standard and a brightness of 1200 nits. The screen received a maximum A+ rating from DisplayMate. The frames are minimal (slightly thicker at the bottom than at the top), and only a perforation in the upper left corner for a 32-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX616 Quad Bayer sensor can somewhat spoil the impression for a perfectionist.

Another interesting feature of the display is support for a refresh rate of 120 Hz (the touch layer even works at 240 Hz for minimal response lag). A special co-processor Ultra Vision Engine is responsible for motion compensation, video optimization for the HDR screen and maximum smoothness.

The camera system deserves special mention. The main wide-angle module is represented by a 48-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor (Quad Bayer technology, the maximum pixel size is 1,6 microns when four are combined into one). It is complemented by a 13-megapixel telephoto module that supports 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital.

But the most interesting is the special ultra-wide-angle (120 Β°) 12-megapixel sensor Sony IMX708, which, unlike most in modern smartphones, has a ratio of not 4:3, but 16:9, that is, when capturing video, the entire matrix plane is used, without cropping. In normal mode, this sensor records 4K video, but it is possible to shoot 1080p in Quad Bayer mode with a wide dynamic range. According to the standard, the pixel size in the IMX708 is already not small - 1,4 microns, but in Quad Bayer it reaches an impressive figure of 2,8 microns (this is already close to the pixel size in SLR cameras).

Oppo Find X2, of course, supports a host of smart shooting modes, including night mode, bokeh effect when capturing video, AI-based video filters, and the ability to edit captured clips right on your smartphone.

The next impressive feature of the device is support for SuperVOOC 2.0 high-speed charging up to 65W. As a result, Find X2's 4200 mAh battery is recharged to 60% in just 15 minutes, and to 100% in 38 minutes. Also, the smartphone can offer support for Wi-Fi 6, which on compatible equipment promises double the connection speed and reduced latency.

The device can offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 3.0GB UFS 256 storage. There are also dual stereo speakers for great sound. The smartphone is available in black and marine colors, is protected from water and dust according to the IP68 standard and runs Android 10 with ColorOS 7.1 shell.

Among the software features, the manufacturer mentions a multi-user mode for 3 people (each can have a unique set of applications and data); the Relax audio player is preinstalled, offering a large set of high-quality recordings (mostly Dolby Atmos) for any mood; improved wireless printing.

Oppo promises a world-class warranty service: no matter where the Find X2 was purchased, the user can expect repair, replacement or warranty return.

There is also a version of the Find X2 Pro smartphone, which includes a 13-megapixel telephoto module with 5x optical, 10x hybrid and 60x digital zoom, f / 3 aperture and optical stabilization system. Also, the 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module has been replaced by a 48-megapixel f / 2,2 with the same viewing angle of 120 Β°, macro support from 3 cm and improved stabilization when recording video. But even this module does not support 8K recording, and can only offer 4K video recording at 60 frames / s.

The Find X2 Pro 12/512 GB is listed at €1199 (about $1350) in the EU and CNY 6999 ($1010) in China, while the regular X2 12/256 GB is €999 ($1130) in the EU and CNY 5499 ($790) in China. Both smartphones support 5G, have excellent tactile feedback. As with the original Find X, there's a Find X2 Pro Lamborghini Edition inspired by the Aventador SVJ Roadster, priced at 12 yuan ($999) in China. Sales will begin in the EU in early May.

In Russia, you can pre-order the new product from March 6 to March 19, 2020 in the OPPO branded online store, as well as in M.Video, Eldorado, DNS, MTS, Know-How, Citylink and Online Trade. Pre-order is made on 100% prepayment. The cost of the smartphone on pre-order is 72 rubles.

With a special offer, the user receives OPPO Enco Free wireless headphones with intelligent noise reduction technology and touch control, which will be the perfect audio companion to the new flagship model. This offer is valid only during the pre-order period.
