The W3C has published a draft version of the third edition of a specification that standardizes the packaging format for PNG images. The new version is fully backward compatible with the second edition of the PNG specification, released in 2003, and is distinguished by the inclusion of additional features such as support for animated images, the ability to integrate EXIF ββmetadata, and the supply of CICP (Coding-Independent Code Points) properties for defining color spaces (including number of color spaces for HDR).
