The Pinta 1.7 graphic editor has been published, acting as an analogue of Paint.NET

Five years since the last release formed release of an open raster graphics editor Pinta 1.7, which is an attempt to rewrite the Paint.NET program using GTK. The editor provides a basic set of options for drawing and image processing, focusing on novice users. The interface is simplified as much as possible, the editor supports an unlimited rollback buffer, allows you to work with multiple layers, and is equipped with a set of tools for applying various effects and adjusting images. Pinta Code spreads under the MIT license. The project is written in C# using Mono and Gtk# wrapping. Binary assemblies prepared by for Ubuntu, macOS and Windows.

In the new release:

  • Added the ability to edit multiple images in different tabs. The contents of the tabs can be docked next to each other or undocked into separate windows.
  • Support for zooming and panning has been added to the Rotate / Zoom dialog.
  • A soft cleanup tool has been added, which can be enabled via the Type menu in the cleanup toolbar.
  • The Pencil tool has the ability to switch between different blend modes.
  • Added support for JASC PaintShop Pro palette files.
  • The transformation tool provides the ability to rotate by a fixed amount if you hold down the Shift key while rotating.
