Thunderbird 142.0, a community-developed email client based on Mozilla technologies, is now available. Thunderbird 142 is built on the Firefox 142 codebase and is an intermediate version, with updates released before the next release. The ESR branches, with long-term support, with updates released throughout the year, contain releases 128.14.0 and Thunderbird 140.2.0.
Key changes in Thunderbird 142:
- The ability to add visual labels/signatures (visual signature) to PDF documents attached to emails has been implemented.
- The 'More actions' menu now includes copy link operations ('Copy Message Link' and 'Copy News Link').
- The function of copying folders on the mailbox is enabled server or local system.
- A 'Reset Folder Order' button has been added to the mail folders panel to reset manual folder sorting parameters.
- The 'Copy Message Location' action has been removed from the context menu.
- Sound notifications are now blocked when the system-wide "do not disturb" mode is active.
- Implemented adding new newsgroups by default in alphabetical order.
- Eleven vulnerabilities have been fixed, nine of which are marked as severe. For example, one issue allows sandbox isolation to be bypassed, and seven lead to memory corruption and could potentially lead to code execution when processing certain content.
