We present the results of the redesign of the sidebar in the new interface of the Thunderbird email client, which is planned to be offered in July with release 115. It is expected that the new interface will be understandable for newcomers, while remaining familiar and convenient for old users.
Main improvements:
- Added a new unified design mode for the panel with mail folders, which is more understandable for beginners.
Old users will be able to disable this mode and return to the familiar view.
- Instead of a toolbar, a new sidebar header has been proposed, which combines buttons for receiving messages, creating a message, and calling a menu to customize the contents of the panel and return to the classic mode.
- Separate sections with local folders and tags appeared in the sidebar, which can be hidden if desired.
