The full specification of the Librem 5 smartphone has been published

Purism has released the full specification for the Librem 5.

Basic iron and characteristics:

  • Processor: i.MX8M (4 cores, 1.5GHz), GPU supports OpenGL/ES 3.1, Vulkan, OpenCL 1.2;
  • Memory: 3 GB;
  • Internal Memory: 32GB eMMC;
  • MicroSD slot (support for memory cards up to 2 TB);
  • Screen 5.7" IPS TFT with a resolution of 720 Γ— 1440;
  • Removable battery 3500 mAh;
  • WiFi: 802.11abgn (2.4GHz + 5GHz);
  • Bluetooth 4;
  • Front camera: 8 megapixels, rear camera: 13 megapixels;
  • USB 3.0 Type C port (data transfer, charging, video output);
  • Combined jack 3.5mm (microphone, headphones);
  • GPS (Teseo LIV3F GNSS), gyroscope, accelerometer.

There are 2 options for cellular modems:

  • Gemalto PLS8 3G/4G on M.2 connector;
  • Broadmobi BM818.

The phone features 3 physical switches:
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, Cellular, Camera + Mic. If the three switches are in the "off" position, then the GPS is turned off.
Soft presented a fully open Linux distribution PureOS with two shells: GNOME and Plasma Mobile. Lifetime OS support (Lifetime updates) is declared.
The bootloader is not locked - it is possible to install any third-party Linux distribution or other OS.

The sale of the device will be announced in the 3rd quarter of 2019.
