Purism has released the full specification for the Librem 5.
Basic iron and characteristics:
- Processor: i.MX8M (4 cores, 1.5GHz), GPU supports OpenGL/ES 3.1, Vulkan, OpenCL 1.2;
- Memory: 3 GB;
- Internal Memory: 32GB eMMC;
- MicroSD slot (support for memory cards up to 2 TB);
- Screen 5.7" IPS TFT with a resolution of 720 Γ 1440;
- Removable battery 3500 mAh;
- WiFi: 802.11abgn (2.4GHz + 5GHz);
- Bluetooth 4;
- Front camera: 8 megapixels, rear camera: 13 megapixels;
- USB 3.0 Type C port (data transfer, charging, video output);
- Combined jack 3.5mm (microphone, headphones);
- GPS (Teseo LIV3F GNSS), gyroscope, accelerometer.
There are 2 options for cellular modems:
- Gemalto PLS8 3G/4G on M.2 connector;
- Broadmobi BM818.
The phone features 3 physical switches:
Wi-Fi + Bluetooth, Cellular, Camera + Mic. If the three switches are in the "off" position, then the GPS is turned off.
The bootloader is not locked - it is possible to install any third-party Linux distribution or other OS.
The sale of the device will be announced in the 3rd quarter of 2019.
