The state corporation Roscosmos, according to the online publication RIA Novosti, spoke about possible options for a new name for the Federation spacecraft.
Let us recall that the Federation is a promising vehicle that will be able to deliver crews and cargo to the Moon and to stations located in low-Earth orbit. The spacecraft is currently under development, and its first launch in an unmanned version is planned for 2022 using a Soyuz-5 launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The device received its current name as a result of a competition, but at the beginning of this year, the head of the state corporation Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, stated that it was planned to choose a new name for the “Federation”.
And now possible names for the promising device have been announced. “With regard to new transport cargo and manned ships, there is an idea that their names should be kept according to the register of the first ships built by Peter the Great, for example, “Eagle”, “Flag” or “Aist”,” Roscosmos said.
However, it should be noted that a final decision regarding the name of the new spacecraft has not yet been made.
